Minneapolis deserves a government that fiercely protects the freedoms and rights of every resident-no matter how they worship, who they love, or where they’re from, are welcomed and respected. Our city’s ability to thrive depends on our ability to make sure it is a welcoming place where everyone belongs and a place where everyone’s rights are respected.
Minneapolis has long been a leader in defending civil liberties and fostering inclusion, but the Trump administration threatens this legacy. We must unite city leaders to proactively safeguard our rights, ensuring we are always prepared to defend our communities against any attack on our freedom. We must also ensure that our city is upholding the highest standard of protecting the civil rights of every resident from within.
Monitor federal government activities by establishing a new Federal Affairs Advisor position responsible for communicating the Trump administration’s policy implications to the Mayor, Council, city staff, and public, and making sure our city is in a strong, informed position to defend residents.
Ensure Minneapolis continues to be a place that respects the rights of all residents and works to protect the most vulnerable: immigrants, the LGBTQIA2S+ community, unhoused, and BIPOC communities.
Leverage the power of our City Attorney’s office to serve as a resource to City Council and every city department to protect human rights. Under my leadership, our City Attorney will also work to prevent exploitation on behalf of residents by suing bad actors and predatory entities.
Enforce the terms of the Consent Decree as a bare minimum standard for our police and public safety systems.
Address the 1,100+ backlog of Use-of-Force cases up for review and approval.
Oversee improvements to police recruitment and training to make sure evidence-based best practices are implemented. Day one of training will prioritize civil rights and community relationships. This will protect residents’ rights in future interactions between civilians and members of law enforcement and prevent pay-outs funded by tax payers.

A thriving Twin Cities Pride Festival, remaining the largest free pride celebration in the nation, bringing people together in joy and solidarity.
Vibrant cultural weeks that honor the heritage, traditions, and contributions of our diverse communities—celebrating local businesses, arts, and festivals that make Minneapolis unique.
